Cold Cutting -Spark Free |
Using Ultra High Pressure Water and Sharp Edge Abrasive you can cut almost anything!
In summary:
- Cut in air or underwater
- Only one hose to cutting nozzle
- Cut without sparks, where there is a risk of explosion.
- Cut is free of dust or gas
- High Cutting speed with high accuracy
- Good remote manipulation
Using ultra high pressure water and a sharp edged abrasive in a suspension — you can cut almost anything!
The picture below shows a jet of water and grit cutting straight through a piece of steel underwater.
This specialist technology is know as WAS (water abrasive suspension) and is brought to you by Hydroblast.
This system is particularly used underwater in the Offshore industry as well as in Industrial Plants and Nuclear Power Stations where there may be a risk of explosion.
This Cold Cutting technique is without thermal influence and gives extremely narrow cutting kerfs for reduced waste. It can cut steel up to 30cm thick and reinforced concrete up to 1 metre thick, as well as a wide range of other materials.
Special features are: the cuts are executed in a contact free manner, with no heat generation or deformation.
This cold cutting method can be employed up to 1000 metres away, and has been proven underwater at depths of up to 600m.
This is done with the aid of robots, ROV’s or manipulators. This means operators lives are not endangered in explosive or sensitive areas.
Only very thin parting seems are produced, with low secondary waste. The important technology of this system utilises a special mixing of water and abrasive grit which utilises an ultra-high pressure pump operating at pressures of 2500 bar.
Bringing to you the advantages of WAS technology
- Cutting in air and water
- Independent of material steel, glass, concrete ,composites, sandwich structure etc.
- Low reactive forces
- No component modifications or deformations measurable.
